Each canoe has what is known as the pacer. It is the person in the front of the canoe. They set the pace that everybody else must follow. If people get off pace than the canoe can get tipsy, and even possibly tip. Pictured here is Daniel Pointe at the Canoe Journey Paddle to A-Ka-Lat in 1997.
